Claire Prout Capron
Welcome to my gallery. I have been drawing and painting since my youth and received formal training in oils from The Boston Museum School of Fine Art. My first love is landscape painting and though I have dabbled with many different media, I always return to oils which offer the consistency and workability that best suits my compositions.
My work is inspired by the beauty around me-a spectacular sunset over the mountains of the Shenandoah Valley, the trees in spring bloom or a soaring hawk. I consider my style to be impressionistic realism and attempt to capture the emotion of the moment with a soft limited palette or engage the viewer’s senses with bold complementary colors.
